The future mommy becomes almost an encyclopedia of new knowledge associated with the birth of a child. This is information about harmful and beneficial products, procedures that are prescribed for diagnosing a child’s development, drugs and their tolerability. One of these drugs is Furagin. Let's train and we will arm ourselves with knowledge about all the features of this remedy and its use during pregnancy.

Briefly about the drug

Furagin is a strong antibacterial drug used to treat infectious diseases of the urinary tract. You should know that this antimicrobial agent is prescribed to combat a large number of pathogenic bacteria. Features of the metabolism of this medication make it possible to treat them with cystitis, pyelonephritis and ureteritis. The effectiveness of Furagin is high, and the advantage of using it over other drugs is that microbes do not gain resistance to it.

Furagin: indications and contraindications

Indications and contraindications of this drug have their own characteristics. In addition to the treatment of urinary tract infections, it is also used to eliminate complications after operations on the organs of the urinary system.

Contraindications to the use of this medication are impaired renal function and liver, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, lactation and its use for the treatment of children up to one year.

Furagin has unpleasant side effects: nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, disruption of the liver. In addition to the consequences of the gastrointestinal tract, dizziness, polyneuritis, urticaria and pruritus are also possible.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, furazidin is absorbed from the small intestine by passive diffusion. The absorption of nitrofurans from the distal segment of the small intestine exceeds the absorption from the proximal and medial segments, respectively, 2 and 4 times (should be considered when simultaneously treating urogenital infections and gastrointestinal diseases, in particular chronic enteritis). Nitrofurans are poorly absorbed from the colon.

Cmax in plasma remains from 3 to 7 or 8 hours, in the urine furazidin is detected after 3-4 hours

In the body, furazidin is distributed evenly. Clinically important is the high content of the drug in the lymph (delaying the spread of infection through the lymphatic ducts). In bile, its concentration is several times higher than in serum, while in liquor it is several times lower than in serum. In the saliva content of furazidine is 30% of its concentration in serum. The concentration of furazidin in the blood and tissues is relatively small, which is associated with its rapid release, while the concentration in the urine is much higher than in the blood.

Indications for use

Furagin is used for the treatment of infectious lesions caused by a number of bacteria:

  • Gram (+) - streptococcal and staphylococcal strains,
  • Gram (-) - Shigella, Salmonella, Klebsiella, E. coli.

Indications for the appointment of furagin during pregnancy are acute and chronic variants of the urinary system infections, as well as prevention of recurrences in inflammation of the bladder, urethra, pyelonephritis, congenital urinary defects, as well as prolonged use of bladder catheterization.

The drug is prescribed exclusively by a doctor, if there are strict indications.

Is it possible to furagin during pregnancy?

Reliable data on how the furagin affects the fetus has not yet been obtained. Perhaps partly for this reason, doctors are in no hurry to prescribe this medication to pregnant women, especially since there are a number of such drugs that are allowed for use during pregnancy.

However, this is not the only reason that furagin is contraindicated for use by pregnant women. A characteristic feature of furagin is that it is one of the few antibacterial agents that not only does not depress the immunity of a woman, but also stimulates it in some way. It would seem that in this bad? After all, everyone knows how important a strong immune defense during pregnancy.

However, in the early and late stages of pregnancy, too strong immunity can be a “disservice” to the expectant mother. Due to the active immunity, a large number of specific “killer” blood cells are formed, which sometimes perceive the emerging fetus as a foreign body and attack it. This can lead to miscarriages, missed abortion and other troubles.

However, in some cases, furagin is still prescribed: this occurs when other drugs fail to cope with the infection, and it is impossible to do without prescription of furagin. True, from about the 35th week of pregnancy, the administration of furagin is indeed strictly prohibited.

Norwegian scientists conducted experiments according to which it was found that women who received furagin or other nitrofuran medications in the last 30 days of gestation more often had children with jaundice.

Whatever it was, but experts are of almost unanimous opinion that the prescription of a drug such as furagin should be strictly justified, and the possible risk for the unborn child should be commensurate with the expected benefits for a pregnant woman.

Use in early pregnancy

Furagin is an antibacterial synthetic drug. Such a drug in the early stages can cause pregnancy to freeze or spontaneous interruption, as well as a violation in the fetus of the formation of organs of the excretion system. For these reasons, the use of furagin in the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided.

However, you should not worry if the pregnancy occurred during the treatment with furagine. Drugs that have entered the female body before the delay, as a rule, do not affect the health of the fetus: the excessive worries and excitements of a pregnant woman are much more dangerous.

Choosing a medical preparation for a pregnant woman, the doctor will not only evaluate the harmfulness and benefits of the drug, but also pay attention to the duration of pregnancy, concomitant diseases, the required duration of treatment and the sensitivity of bacteria to a specific drug. Most often, furagin is prescribed only when its use becomes inevitable.

Contraindications

In most cases, furagin is not prescribed during pregnancy. Moreover, the doctor will not consider the use of the drug in the following cases:

  • with polyneuropathy,
  • in renal failure,
  • with a tendency to allergies to nitrofuran preparations,
  • after 35 weeks gestation.

Side effects

Furagin during pregnancy may cause the appearance of such side effects:

  • drowsiness, neuropathy, disorders of visual function, dizziness,
  • dyspepsia, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain,
  • allergic manifestations (rash, redness on the skin),
  • fever, increased body temperature, general weakness.

In order to reduce the possibility of adverse events, it is recommended to take the medication with enough liquid (if there is no edema or other signs of fluid retention in the body), and also use multivitamin complexes with B vitamins for pregnant women. The occurrence of any of the side effects during pregnancy is a sufficient signal for drug withdrawal.

Dosage and administration

The standard method of application of furagin and the dose of the medication are as follows: from 50 to 100 mg 3-4 times a day for one to two weeks. After that, a break of 10-15 days is made. If necessary, repeat the therapeutic course.

During the treatment, it is recommended to take a sufficient amount of liquid and products enriched with proteins (to create an acidic environment in the urine). Furagin is desirable to take during or immediately after eating food.

Overdose

An overdose of furagin is expressed, first of all, by an increase in adverse events. Headaches, depressive and apathetic states, irritability, polyneuritis, disorders of the liver can be observed. Often there are bouts of vomiting and nausea.

To eliminate the effects of overdose, gastric lavage and infusion are performed. In severe cases, hemodialysis is indicated.

Copes with infections, but it hurts the fetus

In the non-pregnant state, means better than Furagin could hardly be found. The drug is active against staphylococci, streptococci, salmonella, shigel and Escherichia coli.

When ingested, the components of the drug affect the process of nucleic acid formation, disrupting it and thereby preventing the development of pathogenic cells. In addition, the drug can significantly reduce the level of toxin production, improving the overall condition of the patient.

But there is a huge minus in the application of Furagin pregnant women: strengthening the mother's immunity, the drug contributes to the development of specific blood cells, the so-called "killers", which do not allow the development of foreign bodies in the body, perceiving them as dangerous. These cells can attack the germ so aggressively that they can result in:

  • missed abortion
  • miscarriage,
  • pathology in the development of the fetus.

Assignment "as a last resort"

Furagin is not the drug of choice for treating pregnant women, but it can be prescribed if other drugs have not had the desired therapeutic effect. When prescribing, the doctor is obliged to warn the pregnant patient of all possible consequences and be guided by the principle: "Benefits for the mother, or harm to the fetus."

The drug is prescribed only in extreme cases when the health and life of a pregnant woman is at risk.

But even in very severe forms of the disease, the pregnant patient will not be prescribed Furagin if the gestation period is more than 35 weeks. Surprisingly, the drug, unlike other drugs that are aggressive to the fetus, can do more harm not in the early stages, but during the period when the entire organ system is practically built in the baby.

According to the observations of Norwegian doctors, women who took Furagin or other nitrofuran preparations after 35 weeks of gestation were more likely to have children with jaundice.

All physicians are of the same opinion about the harm of Furagin to the fetus, try to avoid his appointment to pregnant women, and if this is not possible, then prescribe the drug very carefully, having studied the clinical picture of the patient carefully and taking into account the risk for the unborn child with the health benefits of his mother.

The composition and pharmacological effects of the drug

The drug is of synthetic origin, the active substance is furazidin.

A method of influencing pathogenic cells is the ability of the active substance to disrupt the metabolic processes in the enzymes of the cells that carry the hydrogen molecules.

From the intestine, the active substance enters the lymph and blocks the spread of infectious microorganisms through the lymphatic system. After a few hours, the main component of the drug is in the urine and is completely eliminated from the body.

The process of exposure is simple and, at first glance, cannot affect the fetus. But a number of studies have shown the danger of furazidine exposure on the future baby, both at the embryonic stage of development and at the stage of an almost fully formed child.

Not every pregnant woman can prescribe Furagina, for this purpose there should be very good reasons. Drug therapy is carried out at:

  • acute or chronic cystitis
  • acute or chronic pyelonephritis
  • urethritis
  • infectious postoperative complications.

Contraindications and side effects

Pregnancy in the instructions for the drug indicated a contraindication or a condition in which the use of Furagin extremely undesirable. And if a woman also found:

  • allergy,
  • renal failure
  • polyneuropathy,

This drug goes into the category of taboos.

In the process of applying Furagin, unpleasant side effects may also appear:

  • nausea and vomiting,
  • dizziness,
  • drowsiness,
  • weakness,
  • disorders of the visual system
  • feverish state.

For any of these manifestations, you must stop taking the medication, flush the stomach and contact your doctor.

1 term

The application is very undesirable because the consequences of treatment may be miscarriage or frozen fetus. Although in the case of a severe form of an infectious disease, doctors are at risk and prescribe a drug, but at the same time observing extreme caution and calculating the dosage in such a way that the effect of the active ingredient has minimal effect on the development of the fetus.

2 term

Furagin is rejected if the disease is treatable with alternative, less aggressive drugs to the fetus. The active ingredient of the drug in any case has a negative effect on the fetus, even if it is taken in the "second trimester" approved for drugs.

It should be noted that the permission to receive medications during this period is rather arbitrary and is based only on the fact that the main organs of the baby are already formed, and there is a lot of time left before the birth - such is the “middle ground” when it is possible to apply more intensive treatment methods. But for the use of Furagin and this period is prohibited.

Description, release form, composition, action

Furagin - this antimicrobial drug of synthetic origin, the main component of which is furazidin.

Produced in tablets. 1 tablet contains 50 mg furazidina.

Furazidin acts on microbial cell enzymes that carry a hydrogen molecule, thus disrupting the metabolic processes in them. This leads to the destruction of microorganisms. Furagin proved to be effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and therefore is actively used in medicine for the treatment of many diseases.

After taking the drug, it is absorbed by the intestines, the active substance enters the lymph, blocking the spread of infection through the lymphatic system. Then, after a few hours, furazidin is in the urine, after which it is completely eliminated from the body.

Is Furagin an antibiotic or not?

You can often hear the question of whether Furagin is an antibiotic?

Furagin is an antibacterial and antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of nitrofurans, it effectively affects streptococci and staphylococci, as well as other strains of microorganisms. Furagin does not have a systemic effect, unlike many antibiotic groups. When ingested, the active substance enters the urinary system and has an antiseptic effect on its organs: kidneys, bladder, urethra. As for the external reception, Furagin also proved to be an excellent antiseptic, and therefore helps to heal purulent wounds, gynecological problems, etc.

Thus, Furagin can be attributed to an antibacterial drug of local action, but not to a systemic antibiotic.

Furagin - instructions for use

Usually, the dosage for adults at the beginning of treatment is 2 tablets 4 times the first day after the onset of the disease. On the second day, you can reduce the dosage to 2 tablets 3 times a day. The course of treatment is 7-10 days, and is determined individually, depending on the disease and the general condition of the body. If necessary, treatment is repeated according to the above scheme in 10-15 days.

For children, dosages are determined at the rate of 5 mg per 1 kg of body weight. It is necessary to combine reception of Furagin with the child with protein food and enough water. When indicated, the treatment is repeated after 10-15 days.

Furagin can also be used to prevent the recurrence of diseases of the urinary system. To this end, it is enough to use 1-2 tablets 1 time per day, preferably in the evening.

All of this information is the general requirements for receiving Furagin, and can not be used for self-treatment. Be sure to consult with your doctor before starting therapy, and stick to their prescribed scheme.

Use during pregnancy

Thus, if a pregnant woman began manifesting cystitis, urethritis or pyelonephritis, it is necessary to immediately contact a urologist, who must prescribe effective treatment without fail. If the disease has not had time to progress, the patient does not have a temperature and there are no grounds for hospitalization, Furagin or its analogues are prescribed. This drug has a number of contraindications as pregnancy, but you need to understand that if the doctor is confident in taking the medication, you should not refuse treatment, since complications associated with diseases of the urinary system can be much more dangerous for the fetus than taking a non-systemic antibacterial drug .

Furagin children: can I take?

Furagin can be used to treat children, but with the condition of strict adherence to dosage and observation at the attending physician. A large number of side effects should cause concern when prescribing Furagin, and therefore it is important to weigh the potential risks and benefits before you begin taking the drug. Ни в коем случае нельзя заниматься самолечением.During therapy, the child must be given a large amount of fluid and in addition vitamins of group B.

Overdosing Furagin in children can cause such terrible complications as acute toxic hepatitis and polyneuritis (damage to peripheral nerves).

Napkins with Furagin

Wipes with Furagin are effective for treating burns, stopping bleeding, preventing inflammatory processes, as well as in local therapy for bedsores and trophic ulcers.

Napkins are used as an antiseptic, hemostatic, sorption, absorbing agent in surgery.

Contraindications: These wipes should not be used to treat people with individual intolerance to Furagin.

Pets treatment

Drugs belonging to the group of nitrofurans, including Furagin, are used to treat diseases in domestic animals caused by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, large viruses, hexamites, trypanosomes, coccidia, histomones, Bartonella, leptospirae. Furagin shows himself well in the treatment of such diseases as:

  • strepto-and staphylococcal septicemia,
  • protozoal enterocolitis,
  • dyspepsia,
  • feed toxicoinfection,
  • pig mug
  • urinary tract infections,
  • colisalmonella infection,
  • gastroenteritis,
  • dysentery,
  • Edema Piglets,
  • pyogenic and gas infection,
  • surgical, obstetric and ophthalmologic diseases.

The drug is prescribed in cases where the pathogens present resistance to sulfonamides and antibiotics.

Birds are assigned to treat and prevent diseases such as: salmonella, chickens, streptococcus and so on

Furagin is highly active against a large number of protea strains. Moreover, for the implementation of treatment requires lower concentrations of the drug in the blood than in the case of the use of antibiotics. Since this pathogen is resistant to most antibiotics, treatment with furagine is the most preferred option.

Taking the medicine should be carried out after feeding. In this case, the duration of the course of treatment should not exceed 7-10 days. After that you should take a break for 10 days. Perhaps repeated treatment with furagin if necessary.
The dose of the drug should be determined at the rate of 5 mg per 1 kg of body weight of a pet. Such a dose will not cause significant problems and pronounced changes in the state and behavior. It is worth noting here that Furagin does not inhibit the general immunological reactivity of the organism as it does when taking antibiotics. Reception of nitrofurans is usually even the opposite - it increases immunity, which is due to the activation of phagocytic activity of leukocytes, an increase in the complement-binding properties of blood serum, an increase in the adsorption-absorption capacity of the RES of the liver and spleen.

Reception of Furagin in accordance with the indicated dosage does not cause the formation of post-vaccination immunity.

As shown by reviews of people taking Furagin for the treatment of various diseases, this drug has a mild and fast action. The positive effect is felt after the first pills, and unpleasant side effects are rare. This is a good and inexpensive drug that is not difficult to find at any pharmacy.

Furagin tablets for cystitis: instructions for use, reviews

Instructions for the use of tablets Furagin recommends the use of this drug in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urogenital system. Synthetic antimicrobial agent from the group of nitrofuran derivatives has a pronounced bactericidal effect, but at the same time, unlike other antibiotics, it does not cause serious systemic reactions.

Furagin - drug description and principle of action

The main component of Furagin is furazidin. Its chemical formula includes a special molecule that binds to the enzymes of the microbial cell that carry hydrogen. As a result, the course of metabolic processes is disturbed, the most important biochemical cycles are inhibited, further activity and reproduction of microorganisms are blocked.

Under the influence of furazidina, nucleic acid formation ceases, the cell membranes and outer membranes of bacteria are destroyed, which leads to their death. To achieve the desired therapeutic effect, a very small concentration of the active substance is sufficient.

Furagin is active against most strains of pathogenic pathogens (streptococci, staphylococci, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli). But its use is ineffective in infectious processes caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, proteins, enterococci and some other strains of microorganisms.

The use of the drug increases the level of non-specific protective proteins in the blood, stimulates the activity of leukocytes and contributes to the revitalization of the immune system. Such a multifaceted effect makes Furagin one of the most effective antimicrobial agents, which also does not have a negative systemic effect on the body.

Furazidin has an antiseptic effect directly in the urinary system, penetrating the kidneys, bladder and urethra. After ingestion, the drug is rapidly absorbed from the intestines and suppresses the spread of pathogens through the lymphatic system, preventing further development of the infection.

This feature allows you to use Furagin as an antimicrobial and antiseptic even in the treatment of purulent wounds and certain gynecological diseases. A few hours after taking the drug accumulates in the urine, after which it is completely eliminated from the body.

Release form

Furagin is produced in the form of small, flat-colored tablets of yellow color. Each of them contains 50 mg of fusidin + auxiliary components. In the package with the product contains blisters with 10 or 30 tablets.

Another form of release - Furagin Lect, is practically no different from the original drug, contains the same amount of active substance - 50 mg, has the same indications for use. The only difference between these drugs in the manufacturer and the age limit to receive. So, Furagin can be prescribed to children from 3 years old, and Furagin Lecture only from 4 years of age.

Furagin is used in the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system of infectious-inflammatory nature and is prescribed for cystitis (acute and chronic), pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis.

Tablets are taken to prevent infectious complications after urological operations or are used as a prophylactic agent to reduce the risk of recurrence of chronic urinary tract infections.

This list of possibilities for the use of the drug does not end there. To the question of what the Furagin tablets help, one can answer that they are used not only for oral administration, but also as a local and external antiseptic.

Preparations Furagin and Furagin lect are used for the treatment of purulent wounds, severe infected burns, fistulas, in the treatment of gynecological and urogenital diseases, infections of soft tissues and skin, infectious and inflammatory lesions of the mouth and throat, as well as in ophthalmology in the treatment of conjunctivitis and keratitis.

Furagin treatment

The doctor selects the dosage of Furagin taking into account the type of the disease, the severity of the symptoms, the age of the patient, the presence of contraindications and other individual characteristics. According to the instructions, the tablets are taken orally immediately after eating, with a sufficient amount of liquid.

Furagin adults are prescribed in a single dose of 1-2 tablets (50-100mg). The multiplicity of reception - 3-4 times a day.

In order to prevent infectious-inflammatory pathologies, take 1 tablet of Furagin daily, in the evening.

To prevent infectious complications during surgical procedures or to perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, Furagin's tablet should be taken 30 minutes before the intervention.

Furagin for children is prescribed in an individual dosage, which is calculated from the ratio of 5-7 mg / kg of weight (on average, 25-50 mg per dose). This dose must be given to the child up to 3 times a day.

Along with taking pills, it is recommended to follow a protein diet and drink more liquid, this will help to achieve a more pronounced therapeutic effect.

How much to take Furagin? The duration of drug therapy does not depend on the form of the disease. In any case, the duration of use of antimicrobial agents is 7-10 days. If necessary, the pill can be resumed, but not earlier than 10-15 days after the first course of treatment.

Instructions for use for cystitis

In cystitis, Furagin is prescribed most often, since this agent provides the necessary antimicrobial action precisely in the affected area, that is, it destroys pathogenic microorganisms in the organs of the urinary system. Due to the specific composition based on the action of nitrofurans, the drug works much more effectively than other antibiotics with a broad spectrum of action, used in infections of the urinary system.

Another advantage of Furagin is that the causative agents of cystitis do not develop resistance to the active substance, so the drug does not lose its effectiveness with repeated courses of treatment and reliably prevents recurrences of the disease.

Reviews of the use of Furagin in cystitis confirm its effectiveness. The drug is well tolerated, quickly eliminates unpleasant symptoms, stops the inflammatory process and at the same time helps to strengthen the immune system and increase the body's resistance to infections.

For external use pre-prepared aqueous solution. To do this, the tablets in a volume of 0.5-1g are crushed and dissolved in 100 ml of heated water for injection. The resulting solution is passed through antibacterial filters, poured into a glass container and sterilized.

Antiseptic solution is used for washing purulent wounds and cavities, treating burns or wetting dressings. The same tool can be used for rinsing the throat and mouth. In ophthalmology, Furagin's solution is used in a special dilution (1: 13000), dripping a few drops into the conjunctival sac every 4 hours.

Adverse reactions

While taking the drug may develop side effects. Most often, patients experience negative reactions from the digestive tract - nausea, loss of appetite, bouts of vomiting, upset stool, abdominal pain.

Often there are reactions from the central nervous system, which are manifested by dizziness, drowsiness, migraine, visual impairment, damage to peripheral nerves, manifestations of neuritis, polyneuritis, arthralgia.

In persons with liver pathologies, cholestatic jaundice and hepatitis may develop. Possible violations of the hematopoietic system. Allergic reactions are accompanied by papular rash, itching, and symptoms of dermatitis. In severe cases, angioedema develops, acute pulmonary reactions occur (with severe dyspnea, cough, chest pain).

When the first dysfunctional symptoms appear, the dosage of the drug should be reduced. If this measure does not help, you must stop taking Furagin and consult a doctor to adjust the course of treatment.

Simultaneous use of antihistamines and adherence to the rules of application will help to reduce the risk of adverse reactions (taking the tablets only after a meal with a large volume of liquid).

Application Reviews

Review number 1

Review number 2

Antimicrobial agent of broad-spectrum, belongs to the group of nitrofurans. Under the influence of nitrofurans, the respiratory chain and the tricarboxylic acid cycle (Krebs cycle) are suppressed, as well as the suppression of other biochemical processes of microorganisms, as a result of which their envelope or cytoplasmic membrane is destroyed.

Active against Gram-positive cocci: Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Gram-negative sticks: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Protozoa: Lamblia intestinalis, non-human artists, etc., in a non-non-art-non-art non-art non-art non-art non-art non-non-non-non-art-non-immunization. antibiotics.

With respect to Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Aerobacter aerogenes, Bacterium citrovorum, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus morganii, furazidin is more active than other nitrofurans.

For most of the bacteria, the bacteriostatic concentration is between 1: 100,000 and 1: 200,000. The bactericidal concentration is about 2 times greater.

As a result of the action of nitrofurans, microorganisms secrete less toxins; therefore, an improvement in the general condition of the patient is possible even before the pronounced suppression of the growth of microflora. Nitrofurans activate the body's immune system: they increase the titer of complement and the ability of leukocytes to phagocytose microorganisms. In therapeutic doses, furazidine stimulates leukopoiesis.

Furazidine resistance develops slowly and does not reach a high degree.

Precautions should be prescribed Furagin diabetics, because With the use of the drug may appear symptoms of polyneuropathy.

It is not recommended to prescribe Furagin for urosepsis, as well as for kidney parenchyma infections.

During the period of application of Furagin, false positive results of the determination of glucose in the urine using Benedict and Fehling solutions can be observed. The results of determination of glucose in the urine, performed by enzymatic methods, remain correct.

Control of laboratory parameters

During prolonged treatment with Furagin, the level of leukocytes in the blood should be periodically monitored, as well as indicators of liver and kidney function.

Influence on ability to drive motor transport and control mechanisms

Furagin does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions, so it can be prescribed to patients whose activities require increased attention.

Overdose

Symptoms: headache, dizziness, depression, psychosis, peripheral polyneuritis, allergic reactions (marshallia in children, angioedema, bronchospasm), nausea, vomiting, megaloblastic or hemolytic anemia (in people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, or vegetation, megaloblastic anemia (in people with glucose-6-phosphate deficiency) abnormal liver function.

Treatment: gastric lavage, in / in the introduction of infusion solutions, in severe cases, hemodialysis is indicated.

Drug interaction

With simultaneous use of Furagin and nalidixic acid, a decrease in the bacteriostatic action of Furagin is noted.

With simultaneous use of Furagin and uricosuric drugs (probenecid, sulfinpyrazon), furazidine is excreted in the urine, which leads to a decrease in its therapeutic efficacy. This can lead to cumulation of furazidine in the body and increase the toxicity of Furagin.

With simultaneous use of Furagin and antacids containing magnesium trisilikat, Furagin absorption is reduced.

Storage conditions

Store in a dry, dark place.

Shelf life - 4 years.

Furagin antibiotic or not

Is Furagin considered an antibiotic or not? Furagin belongs to the group of antimicrobial drugs, nitrofuran derivatives.

But still, is it possible to attribute Furagin to antibiotics or not? The drug is synthesized by artificial means, so Furagin is not a true antibiotic. The drug does not have a systemic effect, unlike antibiotics.

When administered inside the drug for a short period of time enters the urinary system, providing a pronounced antiseptic effect.

Furagin proved to be a wonderful antiseptic for external use, helping to cure purulent wounds, gynecological diseases, conjunctivitis in children.

Furagin from cystitis

Furagin is considered one of their effective drugs to help with cystitis. This is due to the fact that the drug has only a local effect on the organs of the urogenital system, blocking the further development of pathogenic agents, increasing the body's resistance and reducing the severity of inflammatory processes.

Furagin is a synthetic antimicrobial drug, which sometimes has a more pronounced effect than systemic antibiotics.

The main advantage of the drug is that it rarely produces resistance in microbes, as often happens when using antibacterial drugs.

Furagin may be used in the re-manifestation of the disease, it is also effective as a prophylactic medicine to prevent the recurrence of the disease.

Furagin has the following contraindications:

Furagin belongs to the group of nitrofuran antimicrobial agents. The active substance of the drug - furazidin.

It has a bacteriostatic effect, is active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (including Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacteria), retards the growth of microorganisms resistant to sulfonamides and antibiotics. It activates the immune system by increasing the phagocytic ability of leukocytes and increasing the titer of complement.

Some confuse furagin with antibiotics. The answer to the question: furagin is an antibiotic or not, is definitely negative, since the drug does not have a system-wide effect.

Pharmacy sales terms

For ten days in the hospital I took this drug. And all the time there were brutal headaches, and at the end of the course I started to even cramp my legs.

Nobody warned about anything, and only when I told my doctor about my condition, he happily reported that this was a reaction to the drug and I was not the first! So, before accepting anything, first enlighten on this score, than it may threaten you. There is little hope for non-simple doctors - he prescribed and forgot.

We were assigned furagin. We have leukocytes in the urine were exceeded. The dosage was told to look in the instructions. Us 1.8. As a result, I began to give 1.3 per day. On the third day, the daughter began to rub her hands and said that it hurt. The next day began to limp.

I stopped giving furagin. The daughter was shown to the neurologist after a quick hearing, the doctor said that she did not see anything terrible. Now she is playing during the day and at night her arms and legs are strained, that is, she periodically touches them. I'm afraid in general now how this all will be reflected in the future.

Furagin is an antimicrobial and antiparasitic drug that is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Furagin is used to treat diseases of the urogenital system and prostate gland (cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis).

It is necessary to take tablets during the meal rich with proteins that urine had the acidic environment for the best digestion of Furagin. For prophylaxis it is necessary to take 1 tablet at bedtime once a day. For the treatment of diseases - 2 tablets three times a day for 7-10 days, and on the first day you need to take 2 tablets 4 times a day.

If necessary, after 2 weeks of treatment can be repeated.

Furagin for children

Different reference books speak differently about the possibility of using Furagin for children. Some people write that it should not be given to children under 3 years old, but many pediatricians prescribe it even from one month of age. On the effectiveness of the drug is inferior to antibiotics, and remember him when they become ineffective.

Dosage for children is calculated based on body weight. Each kilogram of weight requires 5-7 mg of Furagin. The course of treatment is 1 week and after 2 weeks it can be repeated. With a longer course of therapy, the daily dose should be reduced to 1-2 mg per kilogram of body weight.

For babies up to 1 year old, the tablet should be thoroughly ground into powder and mixed with a liquid (water or milk).

Furagin for the treatment of cystitis

Most patients who have had to deal with such a problem as cystitis know that antibacterial therapy is resorted to primarily in treatment. However, there are drugs with antimicrobial activity, in their effectiveness in no way inferior to antibiotics.

These remedies include the drug Furagin, which has a good therapeutic effect and is widely used in the treatment of diseases of the urinary tract.

Furagin in cystitis is assigned with the aim of combating the direct causative agent of the process, and not for symptomatic relief of signs of the disease. Improving the health of the patient, as a rule, does not keep himself waiting. It should also be said that the drug is a remedy from medicines of a relatively low price category.

The drug belongs to the representatives of nitrofuran antimicrobial agents. Its mechanism of action is the complete blockade of a number of enzymes that provide for the transfer of a hydrogen molecule in the cells of an infectious agent. There is a violation of the metabolic processes in the microorganism, which certainly leads to serious violations of the processes of vital activity and their death.

Furagin - a domestic antimicrobial drug

After the patient takes the Furagin tablet, it is captured by the epithelial cells of the small intestine, after which it enters the lymphatic system, and then is eliminated from the body through urine, where the maximum concentration of the substance is reached. This fact explains the effectiveness of drug treatment, and its widespread use in the field of diseases of the urinary tract, and not as a drug of systemic action.

The most common imported analogues of the drug, which can be purchased in the pharmacy chain are: Furadonin and Furamag.

The active ingredient in these means is absolutely identical, however, the difference in the price category is very significant.

Therefore, before you drink expensive medicines, which are offered by representatives of pharmacological companies, make sure that it will not be a waste of your money.

How to take the drug, and when it is prescribed?

It must always be remembered that prescribing Furagin for cystitis, as well as any antimicrobial agents, is necessary only when the disease is caused by infectious agents, and not by other causes. Only then medical measures will bring the necessary and expected effect.

The instructions for use of Furagin described the possibility of its use not only inside, but also for outdoor procedures, which has the best effect and speeds up the process of controlling the pathogen.

Doses of the drug in each case are selected based on the severity of the main condition and the cause of the disease.

Only the doctor sets the individual dosage of the drug that is right for you.

The classic regimen of medication is as follows:

  • From cystitis Furagin appointed course for 7-10 days. At the same time, during the first three days, the patient takes 2 tablets 4 times a day (that is, every 6 hours), and the remaining days, 2 tablets 3 times a day.
  • For the prevention of a possible recurrence of the process (for example, before the upcoming cystoscopy or catheterization of the bladder), it is recommended to drink 1 tablet at bedtime or in the evening during the week.

For children, the selection of the dose of the medicine is made from the following calculations: 5 mg of the drug is required for 1 kg of the child’s weight

If there is such a need, then the drug is resumed after a two-week break.

Children recommended, at the time of treatment, to increase the intake of food with a high protein content.

Furagin drank plenty of water, there is no dependence on food intake

Cheap cystitis medicine for women

As mentioned above, the drug has found its “niche” in the treatment of patients with the following diseases of the urinary tract:

  • Bacterial pyelonephritis in the acute phase of the process, and to prevent recurrence of the chronic form.
  • Cystitis (acute and chronic form of the disease).
  • Damage to the urethra (urethritis).
  • In order to prevent the development of an infectious process (in particular, with the upcoming manipulations on urinary organs, such as cystoscopy).

In addition to urological practice, the drug is used in the following situations:

  • Inflammatory processes in ophthalmology (keratitis, conjunctivitis and others).
  • Solutions for rinsing the oropharynx for infections caused by streptococcus, staphylococcus and others.
  • Preparation of external solutions for the treatment of wounds with purulent contents, burn surfaces, fistulous passages, vulvovaginitis in women and others.

The drug is used in the practice of an ophthalmologist to treat purulent diseases of the conjunctiva.

Side effects

The most common among patients with the following side effects:

  • feeling nauseous, having heartburn or vomiting,
  • pain of spastic nature of the stomach,
  • loss of appetite, loss of interest in food,
  • state of unmotivated weakness or insomnia,
  • bouts of diffuse headache.

There is a category of patients to whom the drug did not bring the expected effect, or the treatment did not help at all. In this case, it is worthwhile to look into all the possible causes of such situations, and not to express an extremely negative opinion about Furagine.

The inefficiency of Furagin is most often caused by the “human” factor.

As clinical experience shows, most often the reason that the medicine does not help is in non-compliance with the instructions and recommendations of the doctor.

Such patients can choose for themselves the "correct" mode and dosage of the drug.

In addition, they often stop therapy ahead of time, associating it with various causes (the medication was over, began to feel better, took alcohol and other things).

But if, nevertheless, the “human” factor is excluded, then it is necessary to look for the cause in the nature of the pathological process. Often, the drug is prescribed already on the basis of the patient's complaints (at the time of his first appearance at the reception), and the diagnostic procedures are late.

If symptoms such as pain in the kidneys or frequent urination are caused by oncologic processes or non-infectious agents, then Furagin will be completely ineffective (for example, a patient has kidney tuberculosis and, on the background, tuberculous urethritis).

Conclusion

There are many drugs that have absolutely identical mechanism of action, and therefore the same therapeutic effect. In order for the therapy to bring the desired result, always contact a specialist who will tell you about all the benefits of certain medicines and advise you on the correctness of their choice.

When choosing a drug, always rely on the recommendations of a specialist.

Good day! The drug Furagin was prescribed to me by a doctor two weeks ago for acute cystitis. I have cut the required course and now I feel very good. Besides him, I took kidney tea and went to physiotherapy sessions. If you consider the tool in comparison with its counterparts, the price is very happy, especially since the effect is excellent.

Food review only because the drug I really liked. I am a student and I don’t have any extra funds so when the doctor for urethritis prescribed antibiotics and other medicines for a “tidy” amount to me, I began to look for their cheap substitutes.

Searching the Internet, I came across a description of Furagin, and I realized that I needed him. The next day, I went to the doctor again and asked for a prescription for this drug. Saw a weekly course. Symptoms of the disease have passed on the second day.

I did not feel any side effects on myself, so I recommend it to everyone.

Hello! I had to run into Furagin quite recently. It so happened that I developed a terrible purulent conjunctivitis with a spread to both eyes.

When the doctor prescribed this medicine for me, at first I didn’t understand how it could help me, because the instructions mostly include urogenital diseases.

On the advice of the doctor, I dissolved 1-2 tablets per 150-200 ml of warm water and treated both eyes with a cotton pad. Болезнь прошла через 3 дня, чему я несказанно рада.

Maria, 22 years old
I have cystitis for about 5 years, exacerbations occur quite often. The drug was advised to me by my aunt-doctor when I had another bout of cystitis (very cold). Since I feel that I can get sick, I drink Furagin 1 tablet for 5-7 days, and everything is fine.
