What is the difference between IVF and ordinary children?

Greetings to all readers of my blog. Today's talk will be devoted to the method by which a large number of couples could become parents - of course, talking about in vitro fertilization. Not so long ago, at the time of our grandparents, no one could have thought about the test tube children. Due to the insufficiently high level of medicine during childbirth and in the first months of life, only the strongest survived among babies, and they said about families, in which there were no heirs, "God did not give." But now everything has changed. Medicine does not stand still. And now, more than 5 million people around the world have been born with IVF. But, despite the fact that everyone has long been familiar with the essence of this procedure, some myths are still alive. So let's figure it out together: What is the difference between IVF and ordinary children?? What are the risks of this procedure? What should future parents be ready to, who decided to conceive a baby in an artificial way? I will answer not only these questions, but also many others. Interesting? Then follow me.

Briefly about the method of IVF

The essence of IVF lies in the fact that fertilization of the egg takes place outside the mother's body. The first successful procedure took place in 1977, and the following year the world saw the first child “from the test tube”. Currently, there are very few who can be surprised by this procedure. More and more desperate couples turn to doctors and become happy parents of such babies.

But before going to the clinic, future parents want to weigh all the pros and cons. They want to know if their child will be healthy, without any inherited pathologies in development, whether the way of conception affects the development of a child. Sometimes even such absurd experiences occur - can children on IVF become parents themselves?

Unfortunately, some myths are still alive, and individuals believe that children after IVF are fruitless. But I hasten to please you, it is utter nonsense! The first girl who was born with IVF (“invitro”), successfully became pregnant in a natural way and became a mother.

Statistics show that the possibility of becoming pregnant directly depends on the state of health, lifestyle, and not on the method of conception of the parents themselves. Therefore, someone would not even tell you - let's trust the facts!

What difficulties can be encountered after the procedure

One of the points that interests most people who want to use the method of in vitro fertilization is the consequences of the procedure for the newborn and for the mother herself. Since the use of IVF has a relatively recent history, research on this issue is still being conducted. But still some features have long been known, so let's look at the already confirmed data.

What IVF threatens a woman

As a rule, years of waiting, unsuccessful methods of treating infertility, long-term attempts to get pregnant are not the whole list of what some women go through in order to become a mother. Therefore, the main consequence of in vitro fertilization for a woman is a long-awaited pregnancy. The flip side of the coin is that not everyone has it the first time. Sometimes you have to do this procedure again and again. Not all couples withstand such tests ... Some - give up and lose hope, the second - get depressed.

In fact, do not despair. Practitioners worldwide in vitro fertilization explain that:

  • in most cases, pregnancy does not occur immediately after the first procedure - and this is normal,
  • in some women, after an unsuccessful attempt, the hormonal background normalizes, and conception occurs naturally.

What are the negative consequences of the IVF procedure itself for the future mother's health?

  • risk of infection,
  • ruptures of cysts in the ovaries,
  • probability of developing an ectopic pregnancy
  • bladder damage, etc.

Scientists have shown that women who use the method of in vitro fertilization, are more likely to get ovarian cancer.

If a woman at the age of 30 years with a short period of infertility decided to use IVF, most likely her pregnancy will be the same as usual. But a woman over forty with a whole "bouquet" of chronic diseases with gestation can be difficult. Therefore, such patients are especially strictly controlled by doctors.

Also, due to the fact that in vitro fertilization, several embryos are often planted in order to increase the chances of a favorable outcome, a multiple pregnancy can occur. And we all understand that the older the expectant mother, the higher the risk of premature birth, the development of bleeding, weak labor, etc. For the kids themselves multiple pregnancy also dangerous - one of them may die or be born weak. In general, this is still a test. But parents, eager to have their own karapuz, nothing will stop! They are ready to go through a lot, just to see their crumbs, and absolutely right in this.

Does IVF affect the baby’s future health?

Negative consequences for newborns with multiple pregnancies include:

  • neurological disorders
  • development of pathologies in the heart, in the work of the bone and muscular systems,
  • little weight at birth.

I want to note that the same dangers lie in wait for twins, conceived in a natural way, if their mother is already not young.

In order to significantly reduce the risk of developing any problems during fertilization and gestation, prospective parents should reasonably choose a clinic and a doctor. An experienced specialist will always warn about possible consequences, will offer to undergo a full examination to identify all hidden current diseases, genetic pathologies. Moreover, consultation with the genetics must pass both parents! All this will help minimize the risks of fetal pathology.

Are the features of the development of children from "test tube"

In the womb, the development of a baby, conceived in a test tube, is absolutely natural. He also gains weight, grows, kicks his mother with a foot from the inside or sucks his finger)) Any deviations can be triggered by indirect factors, and not because the child conceived “invitro.” Only healthy fetuses return to the female body, which significantly reduces the risk of inheriting any serious diseases. And in the case of natural conception, it is not possible to exclude all this.

Now we can say with confidence that children born after IVF they have no peculiarities of development. Most of the kids are so welcome that their parents give them a lot of attention, which completely excludes the possibility of lagging behind their peers. And even on the contrary, such hyper-care leads to the fact that the e-shopping bag does not differ from its friends, and even on the contrary, many of them are ahead of them in development.

Planning the floor of the future baby

Some parents, planning a pregnancy, wonder: How to conceive a baby of a certain sex? I already told you how to calculate on the boy's ovulation calendar or a girl, but this method still does not give a 100% guarantee of obtaining the expected result. But when in vitro fertilization to choose the sex of the child is quite real! After all, before you put a healthy embryo on a woman, the medical officer examines all the genetic material. And nothing prevents him from paying attention to his chromosome row at the request of the parents.

Sometimes planning the sex of a future baby is not a whim of the parents, but a necessity for medical reasons. If one of the adults has hereditary diseases, then physicians must evaluate the likelihood of his occurrence in the unborn child. Some genetic pathologies are transmitted strictly only to boys or only girls. The IVF method makes it possible to choose the embryo that will be more adapted to life. therefore genetics consultation in this case is required!

Another bonus of IVF is that parents can choose the expected birthday of the future child. And with natural fertilization, the date can only be approximate.

The health of school children

Despite all the tests and precautions, children as well as babies born by natural conception can inherit certain diseases of their parents. Also, for the successful completion of a complex long-awaited pregnancy from IVF, doctors recommend that a woman give birth by caesarean section. In our society, there are still disputes over the topic - does the fact that caesarians did not pass the birth canal affect their further health and even temperament? I believe that the way a baby is born is in no way imprinted on its life. This is evidenced by the experience of my good friends.

More recently, my best friend has become a happy mother, a healthy sex opposite twins after IVF. Yes, unfortunately, right after the birth, the children had some health problems, but all these difficulties were not related to the way they were conceived, but to the factors complicating any successful gestation:

  • age of mother after 40 years
  • multiple pregnancy,
  • premature cesarean section.

To my great relief, the little ones safely coped with all the difficulties and are now absolutely healthy! For the first year I gave them such glowing teddy bears! The children were delighted, and my friend later told me that now they only fall asleep with this toy. Who would doubt)) I would fall asleep with such a bear cub))

Let us consider what other difficulties new-born parents may face before their crumb comes to light.

Debunk Myths

Everyone knows that the course of pregnancy and the outcome of childbirth directly depends on the age and health of the future mom. And if babies are born prematurely, then the problem must be sought not in the procedure of in vitro fertilization, but in associated diseases or hormonal changes in the body. But it is much easier for doubters to believe in nonsense than to understand the intricacies of the problem. Sometimes it comes to the point of absurdity ... Some religious people consider such babies "people without souls." In my opinion, these are terrible sayings. And do not pay attention to these findings.

Recently, I myself witnessed a strange situation. In the barbershop, I heard a conversation between two women discussing an article on extracorporal fertilization. The phrase of one of the ladies chatting about the fact that IVF children do not live for a long time made me turn around to look at the person who had thought of such a thing. So far, no luminary of medicine has made such a sad discovery. The first test tube babies happily create families and are still in good health. And with all my heart I believe that this will continue!

I think that after reading this material, it is safe to draw conclusions - babies born after IVF are exactly the same as babies conceived in a natural way. Anyway, why compare them? Is there a difference for loving parents - is their child conceived using medical reproductive technologies or in a natural way? Most importantly, with his appearance he brought great joy and happiness to a loving family. And for any normal parent his creation - the most wonderful!

What do you think about this? Maybe one of your acquaintances also used the method of artificial insemination and is already raising a nurse baby? How do you feel about these children, do you consider them special? I would be glad to talk with you on this topic. Easy pregnancy and a happy birth of a long-awaited baby! See you soon!

IVF pregnancy

In vitro fertilization gives a chance and hope for pregnancy and the long-awaited opportunity to become a mother.

Even in the process of preparing for the procedure, it is important to undergo a thorough medical examination. After all, couples with various medical diseases and psychological problems seek this help.

Are there any risks?

One of the frequent risks of IVF is multiple pregnancy. This is mainly due to the fact that at least two embryos are planted in the uterine cavity in order to increase the chance of pregnancy.

Multiple pregnancy, as a rule, is more difficult and is often accompanied by various complications, since there is a significant load on the woman’s body. The risk of premature birth and miscarriage in early pregnancy increases.

At the request of a woman, it is possible to remove extra embryos (reduction), but this may lead to the death of the remaining embryos or to provoke a miscarriage.

Children after IVF

Of course, for those who decide on this procedure, the question of the health of the unborn child is very important. Despite the great popularity, many parents worry about the health of eco-kids. There are opinions that in vitro fertilization affects the development of children, since conception occurs in an unnatural way.

Many people believe that intrauterine growth retardation, hypoxia, perinatal damage to the nervous system and other complications may be a consequence of IVF.

Assessing the health status of eco-friendly children is not an easy task. Many factors affect the fetus: the cause of infertility, age, health and emotional state of the parents, especially the mother. Quite a few women belong to the high-risk group of the complicated course of pregnancy and childbirth.

In any case, constant additional examinations and observations of the health status of babies after in vitro fertilization are required. Not all parents want their children to know how they were born. Therefore, after discharge, do not conduct genetic or any other medical examinations. As a result, further information about the state of health of children IVF is lost.

Children after IVF require careful observation of specialists and parents. The health status of babies must be monitored, especially for reasons that made it impossible to conceive naturally.

Whether or not children are different from conventional IVF, only time will tell, as well as whether they are barren. One can only judge about their development and deviations by relying on medical research, and they continue to assert that they do not see any threat to children. Moreover, the natural conception is not 100% guarantee of the ideal health of the baby, so it is possible to allow isolated cases of deviations.

Genetic diseases

Many factors affect the course of pregnancy and the health of the future baby, including the presence of various pathologies in the parents. Many diseases can be inherited or complicate the course of pregnancy. This, of course, can affect the health of the future baby.

Before the procedure of in vitro fertilization, pre-implantation diagnosis is necessary, which allows to detect the presence of any genetic disease or fetal malformations. The use of this genetic diagnosis reduces the risk of transmission of hereditary diseases. Thus, the likelihood of the development of genetic pathologies in the fetus during IVF is almost impossible, since only healthy embryos are selected for landing in the uterus.

Leading professors refer to IVF as a safe method for mother and future baby. Statistics say that such children are less likely than natural conception, are born with many pathologies, for example, with Down syndrome. In addition, using the pre-implantation diagnosis, you can determine the sex of the baby.

Differences IVF children from naturally conceived

For many years, there have been controversies around artificial fertilization, can this method affect the development of the baby in the future? There is a belief that children of IVF are more likely to get sick and have various developmental disabilities. Also, many believe that these kids are more prone to various dangerous diseases.

From a scientific point of view, there is no difference between ordinary children and conceived IVF. Scientific research conducted around the world did not detect any abnormalities in the physical or psychomotor development of children conceived with the help of IVF.

On the contrary, there is a tendency that luxury kids grow and develop more successfully and often outpace their peers in development, learn better. This is due, primarily, to the fact that children born after IVF are more desirable, long-awaited and planned. For their health and development, parents put maximum attention, give care and love.

Definitely it can be said that eco-children and ordinary children absolutely do not have differences. Only the process of conception differs, and pregnancy and childbirth themselves proceed naturally.

Any child, no matter how he was conceived, will bring unlimited happiness to the house.

Do not be afraid of something and wait, it is better to act! The procedure for the birth of a baby by artificial insemination in modern times is a well-established method with the use of high medical technologies. Good luck!

Details about the problem

Barren marriage is very often doomed to decay. A man wants to leave behind a procreation, and a woman dreams of swaddling clothes. When infertility is diagnosed, doctors advise not to despair, because there is ART: ICSI, donor programs (someone else's egg, sperm), eco. Price of procedures depends on the country. In some it is quite expensive, and in Russia, for example, it is free of charge by quota.
The scientific approach to the problems of infertility pleases, because any intelligent person understands that without the continuation of the species, humanity cannot survive.

  • Minus: high cost, the presence of complications.
  • Plus: there is an incentive to live after the birth of a child.

But what to do with persistent rumors about the consequences? Future baby is doomed to have health problems? At the moment, there is no exact evidence of this, there are only constantly conducted tests with various contradictory results.

Research scientists

Today, skid or test tube children are under scrutiny. The findings from the survey, with or without ICSI, are extremely encouraging. Two groups participated in the testing:

  1. Young couples with naturally conceived children and no problems with reproduction,
  2. Couples undergoing IVF who are aged and by definition suffer from infertility.

So, how does an ordinary child differ from ekoshki? Statistics show that the risk of birth defects in naturally conceived children is approximately 4% to 5%. Patients who suffer from infertility, have a higher level of abnormalities and complications associated with pregnancy. It has been proven that the drugs with which these couples conceive children (spontaneously or with IVF) do not affect health. Thus, it is not the IVF process that provokes the occurrence of congenital diseases, but the cause of infertility.
Australia conducted a similar study and found that the incidence of congenital anomalies in the natural group was about 4%, while the consequence in the group of couples undergoing IVF and ICSI was 6% or more. The percentage difference is statistically significant and suggests that children conceived through the use of advanced reproductive technologies have an increased risk of abnormalities. However, the question is open: "Is this risk related to IVF itself or the cause of infertility, which led to the use of artificial insemination?" In any case, most patients take an increased risk of one percent calmly, especially given the fact that natural conception is almost impossible for them. If there is no choice, then why not try.

Studies in 1986 showed that school children have a similar number of cases of congenital anomalies similar to natural conception. More detailed analyzes confirmed this data, but the introduction of ICSI introduced another variable, so work continued in this direction.
Two simultaneous studies have shown that eco is not safe and the child will have a higher risk of congenital anomalies. As a rule, these are chromosomal defects, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular and urinary system.
However, Swiss scientists have refuted this, proving that an increased risk of developing diseases is not connected with ART, but with the cause of infertility. More precisely, they do not exclude this, but there is not enough data to continue research.

Risks for eco kids

The age of the mother, father, smoking, subfertility, previous miscarriages, congenital diseases than in vitro fertilization has a greater influence on the health of the baby.
The main risk for children conceived by IVF is prematurity associated with multiple pregnancies. Especially dangerous is the fact that 50% of twins are born a month or earlier.
In addition, some studies have shown that women who become pregnant after ART programs are more likely to give birth ahead of time. They are more likely to be diagnosed with pregnancy-related complications, such as placenta prone, detachment, or low birth weight of the baby.
The impact of technology on congenital anomalies in children still remains the subject of ongoing discussions. For example, the potential risks inherent in pre-transfer micromanipulations of the embryo that are required for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) have not been clarified. Despite the fact that children after the first eco procedures have already reached the legal age and do not have any problems with either physical or mental health, disputes and research do not subside.
Some people think that after eco many children are 100% infertile. There is no evidence, because the procedure is new and not fully understood by scientists. To assert that which is unknown is simply stupid.

Prevention before birth

In order to reduce the risk of disease in babies, a woman before conception should:

  • normalize nutrition. We all know perfectly well that it is necessary to eat only healthy food, but, as a rule, almost no one observes,
  • start taking vitamins at least 3 months before the protocol,
  • reduce any stress and exercise to a minimum
  • to completely eliminate nicotine and alcohol from your father’s life
  • to minimize the visit to public places, as the risk of catching an infectious disease (cold, flu) is very high,
  • before protocol to cure teeth and sexually transmitted diseases. Sometimes banal thrush can cause a fetal infection of the baby.

As a rule, eco-mommy, at the recommendation of a doctor, gives birth at 36-38 weeks to reduce the risks.

Postpartum prophylaxis

After birth, you must:

  • Complete a comprehensive examination of the child (ultrasound of the heart, brain, kidneys, etc.)
  • After childbirth, in most cases, babies have a reduced immunity, so it is so important not to let it drift. Do not be afraid to once again ask the children's therapist for the results of the tests and ask you to assign a vitamin complex.
  • Do not rush to receive guests after being discharged from the maternity hospital, because the baby must have a protective mode for 6 months. This means a minimum of contacts, and ideally only parents and a doctor.

Myths and attitudes of religion

Birth is always happiness, and such a long-awaited child all the more. Many argue that this is a sin, the baby’s soul is absent, etc. This myth and the baptism of such children is carried out by all religions. No church has the right to refuse the rite, and this is a well-known fact.
Many doctors argue that such children, on the contrary, are ahead of their peers in development, because their parents are already mature adults who have gone through this difficult path on the path to happiness. These kids are actively engaged in: they lead to cups, sections, play, etc., and do not hand the phone and send it not to interfere. Anyway, be prepared for rumors about the abnormality of your child, especially in small towns.
And summing up: for their parents their children are the most beloved and desired, so that public opinion and scholars do not speak.
