Analogues of the drug Biseptol 480

Being a combined antibacterial drug, Biseptol has a wide range of bactericidal action. As a review of this medicine, I could offer my own. Once I even called him a panacea for all my troubles. Of course, this is not entirely true, but after surgery for osteomyelitis of the spine, the doctors recommended that I take Biseptolum (tablets) at the slightest hint of a cold or infection. I must admit that for more than 15 years there have been no repeated operations. Perhaps this drug has played a role.

This is not surprising, since in many infectious and inflammatory pathologies, the drug Biseptol 480 is prescribed. The instruction recommends its use in the following diseases:

  • Bronchitis, pneumonia, purulent pleurisy and other infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, including lung abscess.
  • Prostatitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis - infections of the urogenital system.
  • Sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Infectious diseases of the digestive tract.
  • Infectious diseases of the skin, soft tissue infections: pyoderma, furunculosis and others.
  • Otitis, sinusitis.

Also, the drug "Biseptol 480" is effective in treating other infections, inflammatory processes caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the action of this drug. It is used in the treatment of cholera, acute and chronic osteomyelitis. As already mentioned, the drug is combined, that is, consisting of several components. These are sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Apply the drug "Biseptol 480" tablets as follows:

  • For children from two to five years old, the dose of the drug is 480 mg per day - two (120 mg) tablets in the morning and evening.
  • For children under the age of 12 years, "Biseptol 480" is prescribed at the rate of 960 mg per day. This is twice a day, four (120 mg) tablets or one each - 480 mg.
  • In pneumonia, the content of sulfamethoxazole is taken into account. Per 1 kg of patient weight per day 100 mg of the substance is allowed, and the intake is divided into three times.
  • The daily dose for children over 12 years old and adults is 1 g 920 mg (960 mg twice a day). If long-term therapy is needed, 480 mg twice a day.

The medicine should be taken after meals. It is necessary to wash down tablets with water in small quantities. Between receptions should be equal intervals of time. Usually this period is 12 hours. This means that if the morning dose of the medicine is taken at 8-00, then the evening one will be taken at 20-00. Accordingly, if the drug "Biseptol 480" is prescribed for three times use, then the interval between doses is 6 hours. Then it happens, for example: 8 am - the first reception, 2 pm - the second reception and 8 pm - the third.

The effectiveness of drug treatment largely depends on the regularity and timeliness of its use. The course of therapy lasts up to two weeks. Dosage and treatment are prescribed individually. If the course exceeds five days, hematological monitoring is carried out. With changes in the blood picture, folic acid is prescribed.

My good review of the drug "Biseptol 480" does not mean that all readers should also treat any inflammatory processes with this medicine. He was prescribed by the attending physician, who knew exactly what microorganisms sepsis was caused, and then osteomyelitis of the spine.

Contraindications for taking Biseptol:

  • Severe liver and kidney dysfunctions.
  • Any disorders related to the hematopoietic system.
  • Severe pathologies of the cardiovascular system.
  • Age up to three months.
  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Also Biseptol is not prescribed during pregnancy.

An overdose of the drug is accompanied by clouding of consciousness, nausea and vomiting. Gastric lavage and heavy drinking are recommended as first aid. Of course, in such cases, you should call an ambulance. When sharing biseptol with other drugs should consult a doctor.

How to choose the right analogue
In pharmacology, drugs are usually divided into synonyms and analogues. The synonyms include one or more of the same active chemical substances that have a therapeutic effect on the body. Analogs are understood as drugs containing different active substances, but intended to treat the same diseases.

Differences between viral and bacterial infections
The cause of infectious diseases are viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa. The course of diseases caused by viruses and bacteria are often similar. However, to distinguish the cause of the disease - means to choose the right treatment, which will help to cope with the illness faster and does not harm the child.

Allergy - the cause of frequent colds.
Some people are familiar with the situation when a child often and for a long time has a banal cold. Parents take him to doctors, tests are taken, medications are drunk, and as a result, the child is already registered with the pediatrician as often ill. The true causes of frequent respiratory diseases are not identified.

    Urology: treatment of chlamydial urethritis
Chlamydial urethritis is often found in the practice of the urologist. It is caused by the intracellular parasite Chlamidia trachomatis, which has properties of both bacteria and viruses, which often requires long-term antibiotic therapy treatment regimens with antibacterial agents. It can cause non-specific inflammation of the urethra in men and women.

    Release form and composition

The dosage form of Biseptol 480 is a concentrate for preparing a solution for infusions: a clear, colorless or light yellow liquid with a characteristic smell of ethanol (5 ml each in ampoules, in a cardboard bundle there are 2 blister packs or 10 ampoules without packaging).

The composition of the concentrate in 1 ml / 1 ampoule:

    • active ingredients: sulfamethoxazole - 80/400 mg, trimethoprim - 16/80 mg,
    • excipients: sodium hydroxide, sodium metabisulphite, propylene glycol, benzyl alcohol, ethanol, water for injection.

Biseptol 480 - combined antibacterial drug. The active components in its composition: sulfamethoxazole is an effective antimicrobial substance of medium duration, inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid by competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, trimethoprim is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial reductase of dihydrofolic acid. Their combination gives synergism of antibacterial action, in connection with which the effectiveness of such a complex is much higher in comparison with the effect of other drugs.

Biseptol 480 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic; it is active against the following microorganisms: Streptococcus (Streptococcus pneumoniae), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (stoitogenic strains incl), Neisseria meningitidis, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Escherichia, Ichralia, Ifexia, Icytheria meningitidis, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Ichra, Ichra, Ipc mirabilis, Salmonella spp. (Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi inclusive), Vibrio cholerae, Bacillus anthracis, Listeria spp., Nocardia asteroides, Bordetella pertussis, Enterococcus faecalis, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Mycocoterter ppp, Ps. Microorganisms exhibiting resistance to Biseptolum 480: Corynebacterium spp., Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Leptospira spp., Troponema spp. and viruses.

The drug inactivates the vital activity of Escherichia coli, leads to a decrease in the intestinal synthesis of riboflavin, thiamine, nicotinic acid and other B vitamins. The duration of therapeutic action is 7 hours.

Biseptol 480 penetrates tissue of the body and its biological fluids quickly and is well distributed in them. The drug penetrates through the blood-brain barrier (BBB), histohematomatic barrier, is excreted in breast milk. Its concentration in the urine and lungs significantly exceeds the plasma. Vaginal secretions, bronchial secretions, bones, saliva, tissues and secretions of the prostate gland, breast milk, middle ear fluid, bile, cerebrospinal fluid, eye watery moisture, interstitial fluid, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim accumulate to a lesser extent. Both active components are distributed differently: sulfamethoxazole - only in the extracellular space, and trimethoprim - both outside the cells and inside them. 66% of sulfamethoxazole and 45% of trimethoprim bind to plasma proteins.

Both drugs are metabolized in the liver. Sulfamethoxazole is metabolized to a greater extent, forming acetylated derivatives - metabolites that do not possess antimicrobial activity.

Biseptol is excreted by 480 kidneys, both by glomerular filtration and by active tubular secretion. Up to 80% of the drug is excreted in 72 hours as metabolites, 20% of sulfamethoxazole and 50% of trimethoprim are excreted unchanged. In urine, the concentration of active substances is higher than in blood plasma. Through the intestines the drug is excreted in small quantities. The half-life (T1 / 2) for sulfamethoxazole is 9–11 hours, for trimethoprim - 10–12 hours. In children, this figure is significantly less and depends on the child’s age: in the first year of life it is 7–8 hours, from 1 year to 10 years - 5–6 hours. T1 / 2 increases in elderly patients with impaired renal function.

    • urinary system: renal dysfunction, interstitial nephritis, polyuria, hematuria, crystalluria, hypocreatininemia, increased urea level, toxic nephropathy with a decrease in diuresis to oliguria and anuria,
    • musculoskeletal system: myalgia, arthralgia,
    • hypersensitivity reactions: rash, pruritus, polymorphic erythema, exfoliative dermatitis, photosensitization, allergic myocarditis, hyperthermia, sclera redness, angioedema,
    • reactions at the injection site: soreness, thrombophlebitis,
    • Other: hypoglycemia.

Symptoms of overdose are 480 Biseptol intestinal colic, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, depression, fainting, drowsiness, confusion, fever, blurred vision, crystalluria, hematuria, due to a prolonged overdose leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, jaundice, megaloblastic anemia.

    • in order to stimulate erythropoiesis, when trimethoprim suppresses the hematopoietic functions of the bone marrow, to inject intramuscularly folic acid at a dose of 3–6 mg / day, for a course of 5–7 days,
    • if necessary, conduct hemodialysis.

    special instructions

When Biseptol 480 is used in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), who use co-trimoxazole for the treatment of pneumocystic pneumonia, such undesirable effects, such as hyperthermia, skin rashes, leukopenia, are more common.

It is desirable to determine the concentration of sulfamethoxazole in plasma every 2–3 days immediately before the next infusion, if its value is> 150 μg / ml, the therapy should be interrupted until the plasma value drops to 120 μg / ml.

Prolonged treatment is required under systematic monitoring of the functional state of the liver and kidneys, as well as peripheral blood parameters.

In order to prevent crystalluria in patients, it is necessary to maintain a sufficient amount of urine excreted.

Due to the deterioration of the filtration function of the kidneys, the probability of allergic and toxic complications in the application of sulfonamides significantly increases.

Against the background of treatment, it is inappropriate to eat foods containing para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) in large quantities - tomatoes, carrots and green parts of vegetables (cauliflower, spinach, beans).

Due to the likely increase in photosensitivity when Biseptol 480 is applied, excessive solar and artificial ultraviolet irradiation should be avoided.

It is not recommended to use an antibiotic for pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by beta-hemolytic streptococcus group A due to the wide prevalence of resistant strains.

In case of impaired renal function

    • renal failure with QC 25 mg per week): increases the likelihood of megaloblastic anemia,
    • diuretics (mostly thiazide): increase the risk of thrombocytopenia,
    • procainum, procainamide, benzocaine, other drugs, the hydrolysis of which produces PABA: reduces the effectiveness of co-trimoxazole,
    • barbiturates, phenytoin, para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS): increase the manifestations of folic acid deficiency,
    • hexamethylenetetramine, ascorbic acid, other urinary acidifying drugs: increase the likelihood of crystalluria,
    • salicylates: enhance the effectiveness of the drug,
    • colestyramine: inhibits the absorption of co-trimoxazole, so it must be taken 1 h after or 4–6 h before the use of Biseptol 480,
    • oral contraceptives: their reliability is reduced due to inhibition of the intestinal microflora and a decrease in the enterohepatic circulation of hormonal compounds.

Between diuretics (furosemide, thiazides, etc.) and hypoglycemic drugs for oral use (sulfonylurea derivatives) on the one hand, and sulfonamides on the other, a cross-allergic reaction is possible.

Analogues of Biseptol 480 are Co-trimoxazole, Bactrim, Briefeptol, Bi-Septin, Dvaseptol, Metosulfol and others.

    Biseptol 480 Reviews

For a long time, Biseptol was the drug of choice in the treatment of most infectious lesions. Today, there are numerous discussions about the ratio of the effectiveness and toxicity of the drug, both at the level of scientific discussions and among patients using an antibiotic. Therefore, reviews of Biseptol 480 are sometimes diametrically opposed, and to make an unambiguous conclusion about the advisability of using the drug at the moment is difficult. In such a situation, the best option would be to follow the advice of specialists you trust.

The price of Biseptol 480 in pharmacies

    Composition and action

Active ingredients: sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim (in Latin - Sulfamethoxazolum and Trimethoprimum).

Excipients: alcohol, sodium hydroxide, sodium metabisulfite, prepared water for injection.

Action: the active substances of the drug enter into a chemical interaction, causing damage to pathogens sensitive to sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. The highest efficacy of the drug is observed in the treatment of urological and urinary diseases, diseases of the liver and pancreas.

The concentrate is a colorless or light yellow liquid, packaged in ampoules.

Tablets are round, light yellow color. They are flat, rounded at the edges, engraved on one side.

    With urethritis

Kills pathogens, leading to the development of inflammation of the urogenital canal.

Biseptol relieves pain when urinating, swelling.

Take the drug to be under the supervision of a physician.

Nephritis is a serious disease of the kidney tissue. Biseptol helps to avoid intoxication, eliminate diarrhea, nausea and acute pain in the kidney area.

How to take Biseptol 480 for urinary tract infection

Dosage for urinary tract infections may vary depending on the type of disease, as well as its severity. Biseptol tablets are taken orally, washed down with plenty of water.

The standard dosage for adults is 2-3 tablets of the drug per day.

In severe infections, the dosage is temporarily increased. After the rate of infection has decreased, supportive therapy is prescribed (1 tablet per day).

Biseptol 480 is pre-diluted in water and injected intravenously. 2 ampoules of medication are diluted in 250 ml of saline. The solution is injected every 12 hours.

For children from 6 to 12, there are lower doses (1 tablet per day, 1 ampoule at 12 o'clock).

    How many days to drink

The course of treatment varies depending on the severity of the disease and the patient's state of health. The minimum course of treatment is 7 days.

In the treatment of severe infectious diseases and a complicated form of pneumonia, the medicine must be taken for 2-3 weeks. At the same time, the patient’s state of health is monitored. If an overdose symptom occurs, the course immediately stops.

    Drug interaction

Do not use the drug with dofetidil. This is fraught with problems with the cardiovascular system.

When interacting with anticoagulants and nonsteroidal antiseptics increases the likelihood of adverse reactions. Biseptol reduces the effectiveness of contraceptive drugs.

Use in conjunction with diuretics can lead to a decrease in the number of platelets in the blood. At the same time taking Biseptol and diuretics increases the risk of bleeding.

Different analogues of this drug are available for sale:

    1. Bakteptol.
    2. Co-trimoxazole.

    Genitourinary system

    Used for manifestations:

Biseptol 480 contributes to the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases:

    • gonorrhea
    • soft chancre,
    • venereal lymphogranuloma.

    Digestive system

Biseptol 480 helps in the fight against dangerous infections:

    • cholera,
    • dysentery,
    • typhoid fever
    • paratyphoid
    • gastroenteritis caused by a strain of E-coli,
    • salmonellosis.

    Other diseases

Biseptol 480 is used both in combination and independently, if the pathogen has shown resistance to previously prescribed antibacterial agents. Indications:

    • malaria,
    • whooping cough,
    • acute brucellosis,
    • toxoplasmosis,
    • sepsis,
    • osteomyelitis.

    Dosage of biseptol 480

Regardless of the method of administration, adolescents from 12 years old and adults are given 960 mg of the drug (2 5 ml ampoules or 2 tablets) every 12 hours. Children from 3 to 5 years give ½ pills at the reception, from 6 to 12 years - 1 pill. Elderly people at a time

You can take no more than 480 mg medication. The single dose is halved when the treatment lasts longer than 5 days.

The doctor may increase the dosage for severe diseases, if the patient has shown good tolerability. With pneumonia, medicine must be taken every 6 hours.

For gonorrhea, a one-day course is prescribed: twice in 5 pills, with an interval of 12 hours. One “loading dose” of 6 tablets can be given to women for the treatment of acute cystitis or inflammation of the urinary tract.

    Before or after meals

Biseptol 480 is taken after meals with 100-150 ml of water.

When prescribing a medication, it is necessary to establish which other medications the patient is taking, since some of them showed incompatibility with Biseptol. Combination with Dofetilide can cause such significant heart rhythm disturbances that in some descriptions the combination of these drugs is listed as a contraindication.

    With other drugs

Liquid for injection can not be combined with the introduction of products containing bicarbonate. For dilution is allowed to use solutions of NaCl, dextrose, Ringer. The drug should not be prescribed to patients taking cyclosporine after kidney transplantation, since such a combination will result in impaired functioning of the transplanted organ.

The tool increases anticoagulant activity and prolongs the prothrombin time of the drugs taken to reduce blood clotting (Warfarin, etc.). In order to avoid the development of anemia, it is not recommended to combine it with taking Pyrimethamine (against malaria).

Biseptol interferes with the binding of methotrexate to plasma proteins, while increasing the concentration and enhancing its action. In combination with diuretics, thiazides can reduce the number of platelets and increase the risk of allergies. Urine-oxidizing drugs (including vitamin C) increase the likelihood of crystalluria.

After a 5-day course, the son went on the mend. There were no side effects at all, although at first, it was scary to give the child medicine because of them. ”
