Everyone knows that taking any medication during pregnancy is not desirable. But very often there are situations when it is impossible to do without medication drugs. Therefore, in the process of carrying a child, doctors often prescribe these or other drugs to support the woman's body. Thus, eutirox during pregnancy is indicated with insufficient hormone production by the thyroid gland. This pathology is called hypothyroidism and is very dangerous not only for the health of the woman, but also can lead to abnormal development of the fetus. This is due to the fact that the hormones produced by the thyroid gland affect the metabolism and oxidative processes, they affect bone growth, development of the heart muscle, the ability of the skin and hair to renew, the nourishment of cells of the nervous system and brain.
The danger of insufficient hormone production
Hypothyroidism is a very serious disease, the distinguishing feature of which is the insufficient production of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland. The reason for this is a variety of pathological changes in the body. Hypothyroidism during pregnancy may develop spontaneously, but the following factors may precede pathology:
- hereditary autoimmune abnormalities,
- enlarged thyroid gland
- previously diagnosed infertility
- miscarriages or premature births.
The hormones produced by the thyroid affect the metabolism. Therefore, their insufficient number significantly worsens the condition of the future mother. In addition, the fetus's own thyroid gland begins to develop only at the end of the first month of its development, and to fully function by the end of the fourth month. Therefore, the formation of all important organs in an unborn child occurs under the influence of hormones produced by the woman’s body.
Danger of hypothyroidism for a pregnant woman
With insufficient hormone production by the thyroid gland, a disturbance of metabolic processes in the human body occurs. And since the body of a woman carrying a child works with increased stress, there is a sharp deterioration in well-being. Pregnant women complain of weakness, pain and cramps in the muscles. Because of the lack of hormones needed by the body, energy is exhausted, and women feel constant fatigue and drowsiness. In addition, the gastrointestinal tract is impaired, which can cause nausea, impaired stool and edema.
If you do not provide timely treatment in the form of hormone replacement therapy, which consists in particular in taking eustirox, then over time other symptoms of hypothyroidism become obvious: hair loss and deterioration of the skin condition. As for the pregnancy itself, without the treatment of hypothyroidism the following complications are possible:
- persistent increase in blood pressure
- premature detachment and separation of the placenta,
- bleeding and spontaneous abortion,
- preterm delivery and the need for a cesarean section.
If during pregnancy planning hypothyroidism is diagnosed, then the chances of getting pregnant from a woman are reduced significantly. Moreover, if the pathology is in an advanced stage, and its treatment has not been carried out for a long time, then infertility can develop.
Pathology of fetal development in hypothyroidism
In hypothyroidism in pregnant women, there is always a delay in the development of the fetus due to insufficient thyroxin. But even if it is possible to endure a child, he is always born weak and with low weight. At the same time there is a very high probability of his death or the presence of congenital developmental anomalies.
Hypothyroidism is most dangerous for the central nervous system of the unborn child. A newborn baby may manifest various neuropsychiatric disorders and intellectual retardation. In addition, congenital anomalies are often observed in a child after birth:
- thyroid gland,
- organs of the digestive system,
- of cardio-vascular system.
Characteristic of euthyrox
Violations of the thyroid gland due to insufficient hormone production is a very common pathology. In order to normalize the work of the body, hormone replacement therapy is always carried out. Most commonly, eutirox is used for this, which is available in tablets with different content of active substance.
The main active ingredient in eutirox tablets is levothyroxine sodium. This is a synthetic hormone, which is an analogue of the natural hormone thyroxine. This substance is involved in metabolic processes and acts directly on the process of cellular respiration. Eutirox is an effective drug that is prescribed to compensate for insufficient thyroxin production by the thyroid gland after the diagnosis of the following pathologies:
- goiter and its recurrence
- autoimmune thyroiditis,
- benign thyroid disease,
- Graves disease.
Also, this drug is required for use after surgery on the thyroid gland and during its removal. To a certain extent, the appointment of this drug is similar to the appointment of insulin in diabetes mellitus. The approach is similar, if an insufficient amount of a certain hormone is produced in the human body and it threatens the state of health, then it must be supplied from the outside.
Small doses of euthyrox affect lipid and protein metabolism. Also, this medication, when used in medium doses, gives a positive impetus to improving overall health. This is due to its ability to enrich tissues with oxygen and improve the activity of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.
Levothyroxine, when taken internally, is absorbed in the upper small intestine in a volume of up to 80% of the dose taken. This remedy begins after a certain dose accumulates in the body. As a rule, the first effect becomes noticeable after taking the pill for ten days. Similarly, the effect of the drug ends after it is completely removed from the body.
The main contraindication to the drug is the individual intolerance of the active substance - levothyroxine. High sensitivity to the hormone can provoke allergic reactions, which are expressed by a skin rash, the occurrence of irritation of the skin in the form of severe itching.
Other contraindications for taking the drug:
- untreated thyrotoxicosis,
- acute myocarditis,
- acute pancarditis,
- acute myocardial infarction,
In atherosclerosis, angina pectoris and hypertension, the drug should be administered with great caution. The instructions for this medicine have specific instructions. They contain recommendations that when prescribing treatment for hypothyroidism caused by damage to the pituitary gland, it is necessary to find out whether there is at the same time with this pathology an insufficiency of the adrenal cortex or a disorder in the liver functions.
The interaction of the drug with other drugs
Eutirox is not compatible with some drugs and this fact must be taken into account when prescribing the drug. Hormone replacement therapy simultaneously with the administration of antidepressants and anticoagulants of indirect action greatly enhances their action. In addition, eutirox increases the body's need for insulin and other peroral diabetic drugs.
In addition, the instructions for use of the drug indicate the following interaction with other drugs:
- Reduces the effectiveness of the use of cardiac glycosides.
- Anabolic hormones, as well as drugs containing female sex hormones, significantly reduce the effectiveness of levothyroxine itself.
- Increasing the dose of levothyroxine may be needed when taking estrogen-containing drugs.
- Reduce the absorption of levothyroxine preparations containing soy.
Proper prescription of the drug during pregnancy
Very often, hypothyroidism is detected during testing during pregnancy. But if it so happened that before becoming pregnant, the woman had to take the drug, then it must continue to be used. But at the same time, the doctor may revise the dosage upwards. Eutirox during pregnancy allows you to correctly carry out hormone replacement therapy and provides an opportunity for a woman to bear the fetus. A child is born healthy and has no deviations in its level of development.
Previously, when hypothyroidism was detected in women carrying a child, they were offered a medical abortion. Modern pharmaceuticals absolutely exclude this. Using eutirox during pregnancy, in the shortest possible time it is possible to restore the required amount of hormones and give birth to a child without any abnormalities. During pregnancy, this hormonal drug is prescribed with extreme caution, because not only a deficiency of an important hormone, but also an excessive amount of it can affect the proper development of an unborn baby.
The endocrinologist always prescribes to drink eutirox during pregnancy in individual doses in each case. The basis for the appointment are the results of the hormonal analyzes. In addition to the study of blood for hormones in order to make an accurate diagnosis, it is necessary to:
- Ultrasound of the thyroid gland.
- Scanning of the thyroid gland in case of suspected presence of nodes.
- Electrocardiogram, which in hypothyroidism shows a reduced voltage of the teeth.
Dose adjustment eutiroksa during pregnancy can be carried out once in two months. The entire daily dose prescribed by the doctor is taken at one time and washed down with a small amount of water. It is recommended to do this in the morning half an hour before meals. Such recommendations are due to the following:
- The maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is reached approximately 8 hours after taking it.
- Food slows down the absorption of the drug.
It is strictly forbidden to take eutirox with other thyrostatic agents. If a woman took eutirox throughout the entire period of childbearing, then after giving birth, in most cases, it is recommended to continue to be used in connection with the addiction of the body to the hormone. Otherwise, deterioration may occur. The drug can be with breastfeeding, as it has no effect on the child.
According to numerous reviews, eutirox is well tolerated by pregnant women. If the dosage of the drug was chosen correctly, then no side effects are observed and the drug can be drunk without any fear, harm the unborn baby. But if a pregnant woman takes a large amount of hormones, then she may experience signs of thyrotoxicosis:
- violation of heart rhythms
- increased heartbeat,
- unreasonable sense of fear, bordering on a panic state,
- nervousness and irritability
- diarrhea and vomiting,
- excessive sweating
- loss of appetite.
If signs of thyrotoxicosis are found, a pregnant woman should immediately contact an endocrinologist to make a dosage adjustment. In some cases, you may need to take a break in taking the drug for several days. After that, eutirox will be prescribed again, in smaller doses and the pregnancy will proceed normally.
If the dose is not calculated correctly and it is not enough to compensate for the deficiency of hormones produced by the thyroid gland, the signs of hyperthyroidism remain, but become less pronounced. First of all, headaches continue to disturb a pregnant woman, and fatigue is observed.
It is very important that this drug has no side effects that could be contraindications for driving vehicles. According to numerous reviews, eutirox and pregnancy are quite compatible. It is a reliable and time-tested tool that helps to safely carry and give birth to a healthy child. Therefore, if the doctor decides on his appointment on the basis of the obtained tests, then it is fully justified.
In addition to taking eutirox, to compensate for the hormone deficiency, a pregnant woman should have a healthy diet and live a healthy lifestyle in order to have a healthy child. The diet should be enriched with vitamins and minerals. It is necessary to provide walks in the fresh air and moderate exercise.
Eutirox during pregnancy is a very effective tool that is prescribed for hypothyroidism and allows you to bear and give birth to a healthy child. This drug is very effective and with the right dose, it allows you to quickly fill the deficit of hormones that the thyroid gland produces in insufficient quantities.
What is prescribed Eutiroks during pregnancy?
The lack of hormone production is one of the most common pathologies in the functioning of the thyroid gland. Substitution therapy is used to normalize the process. To this end, the doctor prescribes eutiroks. The main ingredient of the drug - levothyroxine sodium - a substitute for thyroid hormone.
The drug is taken with the following diseases:
- primary and secondary hypothyroidism,
- euthyroid and toxic goiter,
- autoimmune thyroiditis,
- with benign or malignant tumors,
- after surgery.
With a lack of TSH of the thyroid gland in women there are violations in the genital area, in particular, reduced ability to conceive, as well as to bear a child. If a woman is still pregnant, then a worsening of her state of health is possible. This is manifested in muscle pain, night cramps of the limbs, constant weakness, excessive sweating. Women complain of irregular stools, gagging. Later, these conditions are added: hair loss, peeling of the skin, persistent hypertension. In addition, there may be placental abruption, uterine bleeding and, as a result, miscarriage, as well as the likelihood of premature birth.
If a woman before pregnancy had problems with the thyroid gland, she was diagnosed with infertility (later cured), miscarriages, autoimmune diseases, and she took medications, the doctor will definitely advise you to continue treatment during this period. Because when carrying a child, the female body receives an increased load, since it is necessary to provide the necessary substances not only for the body, but also for the fetus.
What causes a lack of thyroxine
Problems of lack of thyroid-stimulating hormone during pregnancy affect not only Mom, but also the baby.
Intrauterine fetal formation occurs with a delay.
Babies born to mothers with a history of hypothyroidism, usually preterm.
There is a possibility of death of the baby during childbirth, as well as the presence of pathologies in its further development.
Dosing and Administration
Only the endocrinologist on the basis of the anamnesis and the obtained analyzes prescribe the required amount of the drug. The drug should act optimally, but it does not harm the female and child's body. The calculated dose depends on the weight and period of administration.
If a woman used Eutirox before conception, then during pregnancy she is prescribed in larger dosages than during the planning period. The approximate dosage is 100-150 mcg, in rare cases it increases.
Another circumstance is when the violation was found during gestation.
Then the volume of the drug is half a tablet of 25 mg or its full form.
In the process of hormonal control, the amount of active substance increases or decreases.
Food interferes with the absorption of the components of the remedy, and a late intake of Eutirox can cause insomnia and increased nervous irritability. Therefore, the drug is used once a day at the same time - 30-40 minutes before breakfast, always before 12 o'clock in the afternoon. The tablet is washed down with a small amount of water - no more than 100 ml.
It is advisable not to exceed the dose prescribed by the doctor, since an overabundance of the hormone leads to unpleasant consequences:
- sleep problems
- hot flashes in the upper body,
- involuntary muscle contraction
- panic attacks,
- excessive sweating
- weight loss
- cramps at night,
- shortness of breath.
Do you know which diet pills are the most effective? Forms of release and group of drugs will be considered in the review.

Why do you need to drink eutiroks pregnant
Hypothyroidism is a serious abnormality in the thyroid gland, characterized by a deficiency in the production of thyroid hormones.
Thyroid hormones directly affect the rate of metabolic processes in the body of any person. In case of hormonal insufficiency, there is a worsening of the health status of the future mother. In the fetus, the thyroid gland begins to develop only by the end of the first month of pregnancy, and it begins to function independently only by the end of the first month of the second trimester. Hormonal female background directly affects the functioning of the thyroid gland. With insufficient effects of thyroid hormones on the body of the child, similar problems arise in the fetus itself, therefore, without timely treatment of hypothyroidism in the position, most likely the disease will be transmitted at birth to children. It is for this reason that it becomes immediately clear that eutirox during pregnancy, if there is a strong evidence, must be taken.
What happens if untreated in hypothyroidism?
With a lack of any thyroid hormone, persistent metabolic disorders occur. Since the body of a pregnant woman works at elevated speeds, any such diseases will quickly be felt. The woman begins to feel worse, she will have general weakness, pain and convulsive jerking in the muscle tissue will begin to manifest. With a shortage of thyroid hormones, the energy disappears, and the state changes to constantly tired and sleepy. Further, the digestive tract is disturbed, nausea and vomiting occur. Often there are severe swelling.
If you do not take eutirox during pregnancy, then after a while there will be other manifestations of the disease:
- Skin diseases
- Rapid hair loss on the head
- Arterial hypertension
- Detachment or complete separation of the placenta
- Spontaneous abortion or threatened miscarriage
- Premature delivery that requires a cesarean section.
If hypothyroidism is diagnosed before conception, then this significantly reduces the chances of getting pregnant. With advanced cases of the disease there is complete sterility, because thyroid hormones directly affect the reproductive function of women.
Growing fetus on the background of hormonal deficiency will significantly lag behind in development. Even if a pregnant woman can be brought to the end of the 9th month, such a child will be born weak and underweight. In addition, the risk of death during childbirth increases significantly, as well as a significant deterioration of the condition and the presence of congenital malformations. Worst of all, maternal disease is reflected in the development of the central nervous system. Mental disorders and mental retardation are often diagnosed in sick newborns. After birth, there are abnormalities in the development of the thyroid, digestive organs and the cardiovascular system.
Optimal dosage of euthyrox during gestation
There are no clear indications. Only a doctor endocrinologist is able to select a suitable dose for a specific woman. The amount of the drug should be such that it has the optimal therapeutic effect, but without manifestations of side effects. The calculation of the dosage rests on the periods of administration. If a girl drank the medication at the planning stage, and then became pregnant, then in this case eutirox during pregnancy is prescribed in larger dosages than before conception. Depending on the specific situation, the optimal dose will be someone 100 mcg per day, and someone all 150 mcg.
Another situation is the prescription of the drug during gestation, when the disease is revealed suddenly. In this situation, you should prescribe the drug in minimal quantities. Usually they start with 12.5 µg or 25 µg, but no more. Over time, the amount of drug used can change, because hormonal control is carried out in each trimester. After the birth of the baby, the use of the drug continues during lactation, and control tests are repeated every 3 months, as before. According to the results of the indicators, the doctor decides whether to change the amount of the prescribed drug or you can already cancel the medicine.
It is easy to use levothyroxine in the composition of the drug - about half an hour before the first meal, the sutra is drunk at once daily dosage. And so on a daily basis. The tablets are strictly drunk until 12 o'clock in the afternoon, otherwise if they are taken later, it is fraught with insomnia and increased nervous irritability. If any other adverse effects from taking (increased pressure, accelerated heartbeat, weight gain, and general feeling of well-being) occur, you should immediately report to the doctor, because a miscalculation in the selected amount of the drug is not excluded, and in this case, you should optimize the received levothyroxine for health, if possible.
Contraindications to the use of euthyrox
- Individual intolerance and hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug
- Itching, rashes and redness on the skin - the result of an allergic reaction
- Previously untreated thyrotoxicosis
- Inflammation of the pancreas in the acute stage
- Acute myocarditis
- Myocardial infarction.
With caution - ischemia, high blood pressure.
The active substance that is part of Eutirox is levothyroxine sodium. This is a synthetic analogue of a substance produced by the human thyroid gland. It has a positive effect on metabolism in the tissues and cells of the body, and also contributes to the development of tissues and their growth. In small doses, it increases the activity of the cells, due to which they multiply rapidly. Medium doses stimulate the growth and development of tissues. But a large dosage can lead to inhibition of hormone production by the pituitary gland.
Eutirox during pregnancy can be assigned to women whose thyroid gland is abnormally functioning, producing an insufficient amount of the hormone. Doctors call this condition hypothyroidism. At the same time, hormone deficiency leads to disruption of fetal development, as a result of which he may have defects, and the most serious of them is mental retardation.
Eutirox is often required to be consumed before pregnancy. Therefore, a woman should periodically undergo a medical examination to identify a lack of hormones. This condition can even lead to infertility. And if earlier a woman drank Eutiroks while preparing for a pregnancy, then during her she should not stop taking it. On the contrary, some experts even recommend increasing its dosage.
If a woman before pregnancy had problems with the thyroid gland, then during gestation, they are only aggravated. As a result, the deficiency of thyroid hormones adversely affects the body's work. It is possible to cure the disease by taking the drug Eutiroks and its analogues. In addition, the indications for the use of the drug are the following diseases:
- The thyroid gland significantly increases, which leads to the appearance of goiter. The disease can progress greatly with late treatment.
- An operation in the area of the thyroid gland before or during pregnancy.
- Cancer of the gland or its complete removal.
The absorption of the components of the drug Eutiroks occurs in the upper small intestine. Approximately 80% of the dose taken is absorbed into the bloodstream, and the rest is excreted along with feces during defecation, and another part - with urine during urination. The average half-life of the drug from the body is 7 days. 5 hours after taking it, the maximum concentration of levothyroxine in the patient's blood is observed.
Since the components of the drug are involved in the metabolism, during pregnancy it is further enhanced. In this case, the thyroid gland has to produce much more hormones, and if it is weakened, then these hormones are not produced. From this can suffer both mother and baby. A deficiency of thyroid hormones also adversely affects the fetus. Before pregnancy, hormonal deficiency leads to the impossibility of conception, and during it there are difficulties with gestation.
Endocrinologists are convinced that if a woman is diagnosed with a dysfunction of the thyroid gland, she simply must take Eutirox. Only hormone therapy will help a woman safely carry the baby.
Instructions for use eutiroksa
Only an endocrinologist can prescribe Eutirox. Instructions for use during pregnancy are also given to them, although it can be read directly on the packaging of the drug. A pregnant woman should be particularly sensitive to taking any medication.
The characteristics of the use of the drug depend on many factors. For example, it is very important when a woman starts taking medicine: before pregnancy or during it. In the first case, the doctor increases the dose of the drug immediately after the woman learned about her pregnancy.
If you can not immediately consult a doctor, you can independently increase the dosage by a third. After all, the concentration of the hormone in the blood increases gradually, without affecting the well-being of women. Therefore, if the dose is too high, the doctor will correct it. This often requires large doses of the drug, sometimes even higher than 150 micrograms.
If a woman had not previously seen Eutirox, then if there are problems with the thyroid gland, the endocrinologist first directs her to take all the tests. Only after receiving their results, he calculates what the dosage of the substance. In this case, first, the expectant mother is prescribed a minimum dose of up to 25 micrograms. But over time, the amount of substance consumed may vary. A woman should be tested for hormones at least 3 times over the entire period of gestation. Pregnancy on the background of Eutiroks usually proceeds without any complications.
A pregnant woman takes the medicine in the morning at least 30 minutes before a meal, once a day. If you take Eutirox immediately before a meal, the effect of its reception will decrease. The effect of the drug begins only a few hours later. It is advisable to drink pills with plenty of warm water.
As a rule, after childbirth, women continue to take Eutiroks. Three months after birth, they pass a control analysis. If his results are good, the doctor may advise you to stop taking the medicine or change its dosage. The substance enters the mother's milk in small quantities, so it can not affect the health of the child.
But it must be borne in mind that taking medicine is possible only by prescription. In addition, the instruction should be studied, which describes the effect of the drug Eutiroks during pregnancy, the effect on the fetus of its constituent substances.
Compatibility with other drugs
Doctors say that you can drink eutirox and iodomarin at the same time during pregnancy. Both drugs are designed to restore the functions of the thyroid gland. Especially Iodomarin is needed in the second trimester of pregnancy, when the baby also has a thyroid gland. Under the influence of iodine, it develops better.
In general, the substance that is part of Eutiroks enhances the effect of anticoagulants and antidepressants. Therefore, the doctor must adjust their dose if a pregnant woman takes them. In addition, after you start taking hormones, the body's need for insulin can increase significantly. Therefore, a woman should monitor the level of glucose in her blood, especially in the first weeks after the start of use of the drug. To this end, she once every 2 weeks should undergo a complete blood count.
With simultaneous use of Eutirox and Kolestiramin, it is necessary to take into account that the latter slows down the absorption in the intestine. Therefore, the frequency between their use should be at least 5-6 hours.
Side effects of Eutiroks during pregnancy
During pregnancy, the immunity of women weakened. Therefore, taking any drugs can cause various effects. For example, Eutirox often leads to allergic reactions if a woman has an individual intolerance to the components that make up the medicine. However, no other side effects were recorded. True, some women can rapidly gain weight under the influence of drugs.
It is proved that Eutiroks is completely harmless to the child. Moreover, the medicine may even be prescribed to infants. The mother gives the daily dose of the drug to the baby in the morning half an hour before his feeding. To do this, the tablets are dissolved in water to avoid large particles. Then the baby is given to drink the medicine through the bottle with the nipple.
Cases of drug overdose are extremely rare. In such a case, a dysfunction of the cardiovascular system may occur. A woman feels a pulse in her head, hears her heartbeat, her heart rate is disturbed. In this case, the patient trembles, muscle spasms and cramps appear. With long-term medication may reduce weight. Immediately upon the occurrence of such symptoms, it is necessary to consult a doctor. He will check if the overdose has affected the condition of the fetus. If necessary, the use of the drug is completely stopped or a lower dose is prescribed.
Thus, Eutirox is an excellent means by which pregnancy proceeds much better. However, you can not self-medicate. The drug should be prescribed only by a doctor, and it should be taken, just following the dosage.
Reviews about taking Eutiroks during pregnancy
Maria, 27 years old: “During pregnancy, thyroid hormone deficiency was found. The attending physician prescribed eutirox. At first she doubted that she did not want to poison the body with pills. As a result, trusted in a specialist. She took the whole pregnancy, the hormonal level slowly returned to normal. After the birth, there was a jump again, and again resorted to an already familiar means. As it turned out, the drug does not cure my disease, but only stabilizes the indicators. You have to drink it all the time. ”
Julia, 36: “The initial signs of hypothyroidism came to light three years before the first pregnancy.
Either the doctor caught me like this, or I missed everything, but no pills were prescribed.
Perhaps it was not so critical? After a while, a new life began to form in me.
And like any future parent, she began to go to doctors, to be tested. Naturally, the disorder in the thyroid gland has not disappeared.
Already another endocrinologist recommended to drink Eutiroks. Despite the side effects, I decided not to risk it and follow the advice of a knowledgeable person. Within 9 months, regularly drank the medicine. Childbirth went smoothly, without complications. Baby born healthy! The second pregnancy proceeded without undue stress and distress. ”
Doctors say the effective effect of the drug during pregnancy. With a minimal number of adverse reactions, Eutirox has a beneficial effect on the development of the fetus, as well as on the female body as a whole. It is worth remembering that only a specialist will correctly calculate the dose and prescribe a competent treatment.
Eutirox. Taking the drug during pregnancy and lactation. The story of my two pregnancies. Treatment is required.
My acquaintance with Eutirox began 8 years ago. I feel worse, there are signs of hypothyroidism (drowsiness, weakness, fatigue, dry hair and skin, low hemoglobin and others). Referring to the endocrinologist, having passed tests for hormones and antibodies, it turned out that I have subclinical hypothyroidism and autoimmune thyroiditis. The doctor prescribed eutirox at a dosage of 50 micrograms with subsequent control of blood for hormones. The main motivation to take this drug was her words: “If you don’t take it, you will be barren or you will have a miscarriage.” I did not intend to give birth at that time and was not married, but I wanted children in the future, so I bought the drug. After reading the reviews and a huge instruction with a huge list of side effects, after weighing all the pros and cons, I began to take. As it seemed to me, the state of health in the next 3 weeks did not change, but my weight after 3 weeks of admission increased from 50 kg to 57 kg! Since my diet and day regimen did not change, I linked the weight gain only with taking the drug. With horror seeing this picture, I quit taking eutirox.
Several years have passed. I got married, and the disease is nowhere. Having decided that it would be better, I would be a little bit thicker)), but I would give birth to healthy children, and I started taking eutirox again. Start taking the drug should be gradually, increasing the dosage little by little. Only 3-4 weeks of admission go to the dosage that you endocrinologist appointed. Just want to tell you all treatment should be controlled by a competent endocrinologistI just want to share my experience with eutirox and give some tips that may be useful to you.
A year has passed, my weight remained at the same level - 55kg. I think that if a person is underweight, he is on a diet, then the drug is quite capable of increasing weight, but only to the optimum value for the body, then it just does not increase it. And refusing to take this drug because of a possible weight gain is wrong. The rest of the side effects, too, fortunately did not affect me.
The most important thing that makes this drug is it. does not allow the disease to progress and allows you to give birth to perfectly healthy children.
Do not be afraid to take eutirox during pregnancy, if the endocrinologist prescribes it to you.
Eutirox is not a sentence. I have been accepting eutirox for 6 years now. She took eutirox during two pregnancies and lactation periods. Now I have two healthy wonderful kids, and this is the most important thing!
Before my first pregnancy, I took eutirox at a dose of 50 mcg for 3 years. Every six months, handed over a control analysis of hormones. Pregnancy came without problems. At about 4 weeks of pregnancy, I donated blood for hormones, TSH was slightly higher than normal - 4,500 μIU / ml, with a rate of up to 4,200 μIU / ml (the reference value depends on the laboratory). ml, and to 2,500 mkme / ml. I increased the dosage of eutirox to 75 mcg. After 3 weeks (you shouldn’t have to give up earlier, since it is impossible to objectively evaluate the effect of the drug) I donated blood, TSH and thyroid hormones were normal. Every month of pregnancy, I donated blood to the hubbubs, controlling their value. If you do not have the opportunity to donate blood for T4, T3 and TSH every month, you can donate blood for at least TSH. At the end of pregnancy, I had to adjust the dosage of euthyrox again, but in the direction of reduction (since the baby’s thyroid gland secretes hormones that slightly affect its mother), and I again began to take it in a dosage of 50 micrograms.
The birth went well, my baby was born perfectly healthy. All newborns in the maternity hospital are tested for congenital genetic diseases, including congenital hypothyroidism. But I was very worried, and in 3 months I additionally donated her blood for hormones in order to dispel all doubts. Now she is 3 years old and she is a very clever girl.
With second pregnancy it was already easier. I was not so worried, I had the experience of the first pregnancy. Also had to increase the dosage of euthyrox at the beginning of pregnancy and reduce to its end. Controlling the level of TSH throughout the pregnancy, I gave birth to a second healthy baby.
I also want to separately say about the reception of euthyrox during lactation. Yes, the drug penetrates the milk, but in very small quantities (especially if you take the drug at a dosage of up to 100 mcg). This is not a reason to deprive the baby of such an important source of nutrition as breast milk, and you should not cancel the drug during lactation either. But before using it during breastfeeding, still consult with an endocrinologist!
One more piece of advice, after you, happy, have given birth to a baby, do not forget in 3-4 months (since approximately after this time, your hormones should return to their normal state) to be tested for hormones so that, if necessary, adjust dosage of euthyrox. Well, in the future, do not forget to do it periodically.
I really hope that my review and experience will help someone.
Take care of your health and the health of your kids.
